Chinese Shoe Size to US: CN, KR & EU Conversion Chart

Converting a Chinese shoe size to US depends on the number. A two-digit size like CN 40 follows EU sizing, so it is a US women's 8.5 or US men's 7 on Nike charts. A three-digit size like 250 is millimeters. Check the brand's own chart.

Shoe Size Conversion Chart (US, UK, EU, CN, KR)

These tables come from Nike's published women's and men's size charts. The CN column is Chinese sizing and the KR column is Korean millimeter sizing. Use them as a starting point, then check the brand chart for the shoe you are buying.

The Foot length (cm) column is the Korean or Chinese millimeter value divided by 10. Japanese shoe sizes generally equal foot length in centimeters, so a 25 cm foot is roughly a JP 25.

At the same EU size, the men's and women's charts list millimeter values 5 mm apart. EU 40 is 250 mm on the men's chart and 255 mm on the women's chart. Check the chart for the specific shoe instead of relying on one table.

Chinese Shoe Size to US

ISO 9407:2019, or Mondopoint, labels footwear by the foot length it fits in millimeters, usually in 5 mm steps. The standard says some manufacturers, particularly in the Far East, use Mondopoint without naming it. Its example labels show CN, JP and Korea sizes all as 260 for a 260 mm shoe. (Source: ISO 9407:2019, standard preview.)

China's Nike site labels one column of its men's chart "China size, mm" (our translation) and lists it next to EU sizes. Two-digit Chinese sizes like 38, 40 and 42 follow EU numbering. A three-digit size like 250 is millimeters of foot length. No shoe is 40 mm long, so 40 means EU-style and 250 means millimeters. See the Nike China men's size chart.

What Is CN 40 Shoe Size?

On Nike's charts, EU/CN 40 is a US women's 8.5 and a US men's 7. The men's chart lists EU 40 as 250 mm. The women's chart lists EU 40 as 255 mm. That 5 mm gap is why one chart does not fit every shoe.

CN 38, 39, 41 and 42 at a Glance

Using the same Nike chart values, here are the quick conversions for common Chinese sizes:

  • CN 38 = EU 38 = 240 mm, US women's 7
  • CN 39 = EU 39 = 250 mm, US women's 8
  • CN 41 = EU 41 = 265 mm on the women's chart (US women's 9.5) or 260 mm on the men's chart (US men's 8)
  • CN 42 = EU 42 = 270 mm on the women's chart (US women's 10) or 265 mm on the men's chart (US men's 8.5)

CN 41 and 42 show the 5 mm gap between Nike's two charts most clearly. If you're buying a unisex shoe, check which chart the brand uses.

Korean Shoe Size to US

Korean shoe sizes are always millimeters. Korea adopted KS M ISO 9407, the same as ISO 9407:2019, so a Korean size like 250 means a 250 mm foot. See the Korean Standards record for KS M ISO 9407.

Nike Korea's women's chart labels the column "KR (mm)". On that chart, 250 mm corresponds to a US women's 8. On the brand's men's chart, 250 mm corresponds to a US men's 7. Because the charts are gender-specific, always confirm which one applies before you buy. (Source: Nike Korea women's size chart.)

Women's Shoe Size Chart: Reading the Numbers

Nike's women's chart shows US, UK, EU, and millimeter columns side by side. Each half size adds 5 mm, from US women's 5 (220 mm) up to US women's 12 (290 mm). The chart notes that the CM size printed on shoe boxes is different from foot length in cm. US women's 8.5 / EU 40 has a foot length of 9 13/16 inches.

Millimeter size covers length only. Width is a separate measurement. Nike says wide shoes have about 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) more toe-box girth than regular shoes. If your foot is wide, check the product page for width notes instead of sizing up only in length.

Men's to Women's Shoe Size Conversion

Nike's US men's and women's charts differ by 1.5 sizes. To convert a men's size to a women's, add 1.5. To go from women's to men's, subtract 1.5. A US men's 7 equals a US women's 8.5. Other brands can use a different gap.

When you shop for Chinese or Korean footwear on EastLyst, start with the brand's own chart when one is available. If the product page lists only an EU or CN size, use a conversion like CN 40 to US women's 8.5 as a reference, then check the size notes on that page. Browse the women's shoes and men's shoes collections to filter by gender.

How to Measure Your Foot at Home

Nike's measurement steps work for any shoe size chart. We added a few details that make the number more accurate:

  1. Measure in the evening, when your feet are at their largest.
  2. Wear the socks you usually wear with that kind of shoe.
  3. Tape a piece of paper to a hard floor.
  4. Stand on the paper with your weight evenly balanced.
  5. Have someone mark the tip of your longest toe, which is not always the big toe, and the outermost point of your heel.
  6. Measure between the marks in millimeters.
  7. Repeat for the other foot and use the longer foot.

If you land between sizes, Nike recommends sizing up. Millimeter measurements describe length only; width is separate. The CM size printed on a shoe box is also different from your foot length in cm, so measure instead of relying on labels.

EastLyst carries footwear from Chinese designers, including PANE trainers. PANE makes low-profile trainers and ballet trainers. Styles shown in this guide include the Artichoke Mixed-Leather Low-Profile Trainer Sneakers, the Achromate Leather Low-Profile Trainer Sneakers, and the Coin-Pocket Ballet Trainer Sneakers.

Each product page has its own size information. Use that over any general chart, because a designer's last and fit can differ from a mass-market brand's table. If you are between sizes, the product page may also note whether the style runs small or large.

FAQ

What is CN 40 in US shoe size?

On Nike's charts, CN 40 is the same as EU 40, which is a US women's 8.5 and a US men's 7. The millimeter equivalent is 250 mm on the men's chart and 255 mm on the women's chart. If you see a three-digit 250, treat it as a foot length measurement rather than an EU-style size.

Is Chinese shoe size the same as EU?

Two-digit Chinese sizes like 38, 40 and 42 follow EU numbering. That is why CN 40 equals EU 40. Some Chinese footwear labels also use millimeters, such as 250 or 260, following the Mondopoint system. In that case, the number is foot length, not an EU size.

What is Korean shoe size 250 in US?

Korean shoe sizes are always millimeters, so 250 means a 250 mm foot. On Nike's women's chart, 250 mm is a US women's 8. On the men's chart, 250 mm is a US men's 7. The chart's gender changes the conversion, so check which chart applies to the shoe you want.

How do I convert men's to women's shoe sizes?

Nike uses a 1.5-size difference. Add 1.5 US sizes to a men's size to get the women's equivalent, or subtract 1.5 from a women's size to get men's. For example, US men's 7 equals US women's 8.5. Other brands may use a different gap, so check the chart for the shoe you are buying.

What is a US women's 8 in Chinese size?

On Nike's women's chart, a US women's 8 is EU 39 and 250 mm. Because two-digit Chinese sizes follow EU numbering, that is CN 39. If a Chinese label instead uses millimeters, a 250 would correspond to that foot length on the same chart.

Do I size up if I'm between sizes?

Yes, Nike's measurement guide recommends sizing up if you are between sizes. Measure both feet and use the longer foot. If you have wide feet, check whether the shoe comes in a wide fit too, since millimeter sizes only describe length.

Why do size charts from different brands disagree?

Size charts are based on each brand's last, grading, and intended fit. Even within the same brand, men's and women's charts can list different millimeter values for the same EU size, as seen with EU 40 at 250 mm versus 255 mm. The CM printed on boxes is also different from actual foot length. Use the chart from the brand you are buying.
